Meet Louis, GT Demo Program Manager Hometown:
Huntington Beach, CA …Yes, GT and I both grew up in the same town.
Favorite GT bike you own and why:
This is an easy one. My 2005 GT DHi. Hands down, it’s one of the best downhill bikes ever made. This bike is the ultimate confident booster. If 9" of travel doesn't make you go big, then nothing will. Best feature on the bike is the two-position chip in the rear drop-outs. In a matter of minutes, the bike transforms from a race bike to a freeride machine.
Favorite place to ride:
I enjoy everywhere I ride. Just having the chance to get away from it all and enjoy the trail is the best part of mountain biking. The San Juan trails offer some of the best scenery and mix of downhill and climbing. A close second would be a ride up to “Top of the World” in Laguna. A ride with a fair amount of climbing but tons of reward, the view is epic. You get the beach and mountains all in one spin around at the top. I’m sure I’ll have some new favorites after the Demo program.
Most embarrassing riding moment:
During a ride with some guys from the bike shop, I was riding a little too fast. I came into a corner hot, grabbed too much front brake and endo-ed into a huge cactus patch. The worst part was that I was stuck! If I had tried to get up, the cactus’ needles would have stuck in further. I waited for the next rider to pull me out. In the end, I had to ditch everything covered in cactus needles, so I finished the ride in nothing more than some shorts and a helmet. Good times!
