Maserati Gran Turismo

The Maserati Gran Turismo made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show, and it fast became known for its curvaceous body, sleek surfaces and elegance. Maserati has teamed with Pininfarina to craft a design that is the very essence of Gran Turismo, with enough power to carry four adults in style.

Compared to the Gran Sport which came before it, the Gran Turismo has much better proportions and more eye appeal. The front of the car is taken up by a large, unmistakable oval grille, where the Maserati badge is displayed. From the way the body arches to the quad exhaust pipes, this car is all about attitude and style.

On the interior, the Gran Turismo offers 2+2 seating in Italian leather. Maseratis are known for their sumptuous cabins, and the GT is no exception. The front seats have generous support and ample cushioning, and are fully adjustable. For those in the back seat, the front seats shift forward to allow easy access. The Gran Turismo designation would be meaningless if the car couldn't hold any luggage- the trunk can fit two golf bags or the five designer suitcases that come with the car.

In keeping with its exotic looks the Maserati Gran Turismo has a Ferrari-built V8 (the Quattroporte has the same engine). Initially, the six-speed automatic was the only transmission available; it was designed to maximize performance and acceleration. The car was designed to compete with cars such as Ferraris, Aston Martins and Porsches, and carrying it down the road are 19" wheels with Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires.

The car's debut was an enormous success, and sold out quickly. Those on the waiting list can vouch for the fact that the car is a contender in the competitive luxury coupe market. With the Quattroporte and the Gran Turismo coupe, Maserati is a great alternative to other high-priced car brands.
